How long until you drove after the procedure?

Post by CRHInv »

Hey, I was just wondering how long it was before you 'stenters' starting driving again after the procedure. I know it will vary due to several factors, I am just looking for a range.
Thanks!
dx 4/09 * Stanford appointment 11/09/09 * One stent left, low jugular 11/10/09!<br />One year from treatment, I have my life back.  Placebo schmebo.

Five days after the procedure - I did not drive while I was on the Percocet.

It was a lot longer for me, I had big stents both sides and could not turn my head well for 2 months-I also had other complications that kept me down. My car is adapted too so I have to be very functional in terms of arm and neck function to drive comfortably. this probably does not apply to really functional people
I'm not offering medical advice, I am just a patient too! Talk to your doctor about what is best for you...

Hi, Beth,
It was just over 1.5 weeks before I was able to drive again, and then only for short distances because neck pain made the experience uncomfortable (like Sharon, I didn't drive until after I'd stopped Percocet and Norco for pain).

Family helped me the first few weeks, to take me to appointments, etc.

It's really been only in the last few weeks that the neck pain has pretty much gone away when I drive (I'm now 7 weeks post-procedure), so I'm not as limited by distance or length of time behind the wheel. This improvement for me started about the same time that I started physical therapy for my tweaked shoulder (excuse the highly technical term), so the improvement in neck pain may have been related to the PT work.

My shoulder is still tweaked but it is getting better slowly, and it doesn't interfere with driving.

Attracted by the title... driving after procedure!
I've checked the title again, so I believe I'm not off topic.
To be clear, I have no stent: I've done Zamboni's "Liberazione".
I've driven back home the same day, the evening of the day I've been libareted.

Being the "control freak" that I am, I drove halfway back home from the airport in Nashville to Mississippi about 85 miles of 150-160 mile trip until I could not do it anymore and had to turn the wheel over to my hubby. This was 2 1/2 days after procedure.

It's taken me about 4 months to feel comfortable driving but I'm like Marie, my car is adapted and I had a lot of stents (6cm' worth on the left side and 4cm on the right) put in which made both my arms weak for some time.
3 years antibiotics, 06/09 bilateral jug stents at C1, 05/11 ballooning of both jug valves, 07/12 stenting of renal vein, azygos & jug valve ballooning,
