Coumadin vs Clexane

Good evening (it's 20.53 pm here in the Netherlands),

I don't understand why dr. Dakes patients have to take Coumadin and dr. Simka's patients get Clexane.

Does anyone know this?

I'm sorry if I missed it. There are too many pages to read

I can only tell you my part - Poland+Slovakia. It is not expensive here. Clexane does not have any side effects - only bruises and very small pain when I inject it (I just must use the slow way), I do not have to check my INR. Clexane keeps it on the necessary level all the time. Dr. Simka told me this, it is really true, as I trust him because so far he was always right, I did not discuss about it anymore.
Well, I never thought he was wrong.

The US patients tells you better the other side.

I thought that people in the US take Coumadin only because of the power of pharma here and the lack of a version of Clexane that insurance companies would cover? Or are there any actual medical reasons why one would prefer Coumadin?

From my coumadin-for-life-taker understanding, Clexane as the huge advantage to easily keep the anti-coagulent effect in the wanted range. It's only affected by the weight of someone. So, base on your weight the dosage is simply calculated and constant. There is two disadvantage: you need an injection daily (instead of pills) and it's much more expensive.

Coumadin is very cheap. No injection. Buth its effect depends greatly on what you eat (vitamin K more precisely). So you have too keep your green veg consomption very constant. And even with a lot of attention, it's not easy to keep the effect of coumadin in the desired range.

I just looked up Clexane and it appears to be Heparin (in the US)...after reading about it, I think I would find Heparin injections (orally, it isn't absorbed properly) preferable to coumadin...everyone seems to hate being on coumadin...

Anyone got insight on this?

I also understood this. I do not have to make any changes in my diet.
I am just looking at the box of 10 injections from Poland. I see there price abou 29,40Euro. The price is in Zloty of course.

In my country - Slovakia, the price is 34,36 Euro but the patient pays only 6,36 Euro because everybody has the health insurance here.
It is 0,4 ml; 40 mg and my weight is 56 kg.

I do not feel any side effects. Just some bruises - but it is often my fault. I am not careful enough.
