headache question for stenters

Post by magoo »

My MS symptoms have improved greatly, but I have developed intense headaches stemming from my neck and shoulder I believe. When I lie down and take the pressure off of the neck muscles, I'm fine. In the morning I'm fine. But, after about 4 hours upright the pain begins. It's everyday now. It's not improving. If it is from the stent, has anyone had headaches this bad? I tried muscle relaxers and haven't had any relief. I will head to my PC doc tomorrow to see about a soft collar, has anyone tried this?
Thanks :)

Hi magoo...
really sorry! Yes, Jeff got these in the first couple of months and still occasionally will get one if he's up and working too long. Lying down helps it go away- he feels it's postural and related to holding his neck up, looking at his computer screen. He never did the collar. Is yours relieved with tylenol/advil? Let your PC and Dr. Dake know if it's really bad. Hope you get some answers-

Thanks Joan,
I'm so glad to know Jeff's headaches have resolved. I'm still on Coumadin, so I haven't tried Advil. The Tylenol is not helping :(
I have been communicating with Dr. Dake, (he's amazing when it comes to questions, he must never be away from his email since I always get an immediate response!) and he said to give the collar a try.
Thanks for responding, it's good to have you and the others to turn to.

I just wanted to say I tried the soft cervical collar and it works to relieve my headache. I don't know how often this has occured with the people who have had surgery, but for me it is the only thing I suffer from anymore. It is so good to be free from it and feel the real relief from the MS symptoms which have plagued me for 6 years. I feel normal, what an amazing thing!!!!!!!!!!
Does it make sense to anyone that the collar would relieve the headache pain after stenting????
