I'm back! An update on me

Post by Punchy »

Hi guys!

Hopefully some of you remember me, it has been a while since I've posted other than a few quick things.

I didn't intend to turn my back on TIMS, but I have had my back turned on MS for a while. It's been a good vacation. :)

This has been my focus:

Henry John, born October 10th.

Not a single symptom since his birth: I'm able to get down on the floor to play with him, I carry him around all day, we go for long walks with the stroller... Heaven. :D I know it's likely only temporary, so I enjoy every minute.

I've been breastfeeding up until now, but unfortunately it doesn't look like it will last much longer. I have to decide soon how I want to manage my disease from here out. Before pregnancy I did Rebif and hated it.

So much has come up since my hiatus I figured I'd better catch up on new research and treatments.

I hope everyone is well, I look forward to reconnecting.

Oh Punchy I am so thrilled for you!
Delighted to see you back and delighted about your news.

Henry is a beautiful little fella - love the name too.

Enjoy every minute :D it goes way too fast. My son is nearly 2 now and I miss carrying him in the pouch and stuff but I am really enjoying being asked 'mammy what is that' all day long too

Wondering could you continue to express and discard, just seen some research that suggests breastfeeding provides significant benefits to the MS mother http://www.msrc.co.uk/index.cfm?fuseact ... ageid=1936. You could go back on a med but just discard the milk?

Thanks so much, I sure think he's cute. :D

Wonder, my issue is actually with supply. If I could keep it up, I'd continue breastfeeding him as long as possible. I've tried pumping, oatmeal, blessed thistle, and finally domperidone. I am still able to feed him 70% of the time but it seems to be decreasing. :(

Thanks Jimmy!

I am taking Preg Vit, the multi I took while pregnant. I'm also taking another 2000UI of Vit. D and Ferratin (iron)... I think 300mg? I am still anemic from the surgery.

you're sooo welcome :)

would you be able to get a few levels done? to check on a few things?

i remember those pregvits now that i looked at them once more.. they seem low in terms of standard, NON lactating MS requirements.. would you feel icky about trying two ams and two pms per day for a week?

ps. do you eat plenty of natural food sources of vit e? like wheat germ, sunflower seeds/oil?

Congratulations Punchy. He's a cutie. Enjoy. It goes way too fast. Glad to hear you're breastfeeding. Better for Mom and baby. I highly recommend it. If you haven't seen a copy of BreThe Womanly Art of [/i]Breastfeeding you may want to try to get your hands on a copy. My daughter is currently breastfeeding her 5 month old daughter. If a mom is working it can be a hassle sometimes. Just takes patience and commitment. I enjoyed that time with my two.
