Side effects of IBT in healthy people.
Increases hair growth, finger nail growth, helps develop a more upright posture by stretching the spine, usually causes aches and pain and a stiff neck, these normally resolve quickly though may remain for some time if a person has some damage to the spine, scoliosis etc.
Another side effect is early morning erection, now reported by several people who had a problem with erectile dysfuction.
Hands and feet feeling too warm in bed has been reported from people who had cold hands and cold feet in bed.
Muscle tone improves significantly over several months along with increased bone and muscle density.
Skin conditions also respond well to I.T.
Blood pressure should be monitored carefully. Most people find that high blood pressure is reduced, but some have found low blood pressure is increased. Have no answers for why low and high blood pressure should go in two different directions yet.
Dreams become more vivid.
Trips to the bathroom at night become less frequent even stopping.
A lighter sleep pattern develops and although not certain, I think REM sleep is avoided more.
Your wife will be delighted by when looking in the mirror in the mornings. Women especially have reported looking as much as 20 years younger in I.T. No more bags under eyes, puffy swollen face that looks like it has spread out over the pillow on one side. This again relates to the improved muscle tone on I.T.
Thanks for the congratulations, yes it has been an uphill struggle. But a well worth journey and yes it has been an economical drain on our megre resources and my time but at a price well worth paying. I would do it all again without thinking a second thought!
I have already proven that IBT works for ms, long before Zamboni and the CCSVI theory arrived. The facts were presented to the UK and US ms charities, the myelin project and so many I have lost count, but all succesfully repelled the invasion of common sense!

My MS FOG seem to get much better for two days, but then came back with a vengence. Have others reported this as well?AndrewKFletcher wrote:Side effects of IBT in healthy people.

Re: MS FOG
When I first tried a 4" incline I felt great, less FOG, more alert not as dizzy. But about a week after moving up to 6" my dizzyness and fog is really really bad over the last couple days. I just feel darn awful and odd, just generally unwell. Could be a well timed relapse, i'm going to stick it out for a while yet to see if things come around.bossman wrote:My MS FOG seem to get much better for two days, but then came back with a vengence. Brain fog
HI
I.T. does not generally provide us with an instant fix for ms. People on I.T. with ms have reported symptoms in reverse, in other words they can appear to get worse but on reflection identify they experience the same or simmilar symptoms they had expereinced while their condition worsened.
Some however report only positive improvements and are the lucky ones, for others the process of regaining controll over lost function can be painful at times as nerve pathways open up. I suspect the brain has to compensate for the newly restored signals, much the same as acupuncture stimulates us to dampen down pain.
Moving from 4" to 6" can also bring about the same events as the intial shift to a 4" raise.
And of course there is always the chance of a relapse. This was interesting in the early studies, because some people who had gone past the RR stage found they began RR some months after tilting the bed.
Initially we thought this was a negative reaction but over the months we saw a huge improvement overall.
We also need to take into account seasonal and weather variations, as these are well documented for increasing the incidence of ms relapses.
Thanks for posting your observations

Hi there!
This is my one week raport:
Firstly, I still do not experience back pain while sleeping or not much of it. There is some ache and stiffness in my neck when I’m laying on my side, but it could be due to the stretching of the neck I’m doing during the day and started at the same time as IBT. I’m using much thinner pillow while sleeping on my side and neither spine nor neck breaks a sweat. I sleep like a rock – without dreaming.
Secondly, I think my fatigue is improved. Again, I’m not sure it’s an effect of IBT; see, I’m lazy by nature and I always had excuses not to exercise, and my muscle power is rubbish, really, but I have a New Year’s resolution to exercise and thus far I’m sticking to it. Anyway, for the first fortnight I was barely able to exercise for ten minutes, and I was half-asleep for the rest of the day. But for the last two days I exercise for an hour straight, and I can function just fine after that despite the fact that I have a mild cold. Of course, that could just mean my endurance is better.
Thirdly, my sitting position is better. I keep my head almost straight during the day.
Fourthly, I can stand straighter (while holding someone), my legs are stronger, and obviously I’m taller thanks to it.

Now we need to get those legs working properly

You have noticed your more upright too, something we noticed and proved with measurements a long time ago.
Keep going and keep doing those exercises. Thes can be more beneficial if conducted on the angled bed. Practice raising and lowering your legs.
Can't wait for your next post

Thanks Andrew
I just remembered a few more things. I'm falling asleep within minutes, earlier I could put on my headphones and listen to a few chapters of an audiobook after the lights were out, but now it's impossible. I close my eyes and black out, so insomnia abandoned me. I still sleep ten hours and go to bed a little earlier than usual. Ah, and now the scary one
I eat loads! I'm a starved cat usually, with only one big meal in a day, and now I eat my meals like a good girl - only breakfast it's a small, customary yoghurt. I start to worry about my weight, maybe it's time to go on a diet?

You make me laugh.
I am also wanting to eat more, which my mother is very pleased about because she's always worried that I don't eat enough. Maybe it's our bodies telling us we need more food (before IBT it just let me get on with it)? I was craving pizza followed by profiteroles a few days ago - and I'm a vegan. Thankfully this has gone away now.
I really hope you continue to see improvements with IBT.

I've had my bed inclined since December 1. I like to sleep incline but my husband is still just tolerating it to please me. My main debilitating symptoms are MS fatigue and severe headaches. I haven't noticed any change. But I will stay inclined until my hubby decides it is time to stop.

Drink more water to relieve headaches.
Use a dehuimidifier in your home to bring the humidity down. Your area is very humid living near the river.

Hi Andrew,
After just one day I think your advice to drink more water was excellent !! I am so distressed these days that I can't tell when I am thirsty or not and I think I haven't been drinking enough. Today I've been drinking lots of water and I just have a minimal headache. Not like last night when I was ready to go jump off a bridge. Thank you !!!
Also I googled "headaches and dehydration" and got some interesting hits. It is odd how a problem can be so simple yet so hard to detect. And I've been taking fioricet and vicodin and they didn't help !!!!!!
I'll keep you posted if this continues to work. Thanks again.

My own observation with alcohol
During strenuous exercise, it is fatal to have a drink of alcohol, One pint of beer and my legs turn into lead, followed by lethargy and a concerted effort to get going again. I don’t have any answers for you, except alcohol in the blood stream would make the blood less dense and therefore could be upsetting the circulation. Also alcohol evaporates quicker and has a cooling effect when it takes place.
This could also affect the density of the blood and diameter of the capillary vessels, though this is unsubstantiated and should be viewed as conjecture on my part.

Hi Andrew
I'm a 56 year old male living in the united states with secondary progressive MS.I took Avonex for one year Rebif for six months and continued to get worse. So I turned to the internet and
found LDN been on 4.5 for 1.5 years. I didn't get the results that some people talk of but getting off of the MS drugs with all the bad side effects I was able to stop the medication for
urinary urgency and the medication for depression.I give a lot of credit to the LDN for stopping
the progression and helping to get off of the medication that I mentioned. I raised my bed 6
inches 12-2-09 the things that I have noticed are the urinary urgency that the LDN helped
with are all most all gone- the muscle cramps (or Charley horses) that I was having a lot of
are gone. Fourteen years ago I lost sight in my right eye from optic neuritis it took about a
year to get better but only about 80 percent better but now it seams that I can see better out of
that eye.I have toe drag and a weak ankle in my left leg and have to wear a brace to walk that
hasn't got any better but the leg was cold all the time that's a lot better. Any way I would like to
help with your study but I take a supplement called (Natto Serrazime) one twice daily this
supplement doesn't thin the blood but it makes it flow better. And a lot of vitamins I wounder if this would make me not eligible?
Thanks for all that you're doing to help Andrew

Just short report:
this is my morning number 6 on flat bed again: no headache in the morning so far, I only have usual backache as always because of my spina bifida.
No nausea either.
