that depends how far you need to go by taxi as i imagine that would be the most expensive. some people wrote about taxi fares for the hotel - hospital trips being about 80 zloty, meals probably 30 zloty per meal per person + hotel breakfast is usually included - does that help?

It"s way better to exchange in Poland and you better off to do it in places called KANTORs rather than airports, banks or hotels. Just google KANTOR and KATOWICE for the best rates and location.

Todays rate:

sell $100 = 289 zlotys

thank you asia and reytan,
wow, what a difference, it's good to know about kantor. the price difference for 1000 zloty is about a hundred dollars.

would taxis accept dollars from the airport before we buy zloties from kantors and any in the hotel qubus??? there is one about five hundred foot away from the hotel, which is good.

It looks like a taxi from Katowice Pyrzowice Airport to Katowice City should be around 100 zlotys http://www.taxi-katowice.pl.tl/English-Version.htm
There is currency exchange at Katowice Airport http://www.kantor.info.pl/english.html but the rate is worse than in the city. So, you can exchange just enough to cover taxi to a hotel, $100 is more than enough.
