Hi all! , Was wondering if anyone has had any respiratory problems? I have had this dry cough since aug 09, been to Dr time after tim they put me on puffers thsy did not work codiene cough syrup did not work .Then finally seen Dr who ordered tests xray and blood work came bak inflamation in my lungs and throughout my body .Sent me to lung specialist she said nothing wrong GO FIGURE! so now im at square one again with this awful cough that wont stop and noone seems to want to help find out what is causing it .So if anyone has had this prob and has any imput would be very helpful .Feeling very hepless

My wife is the one with MS. 50 and diagnosed in 06. At the time I smoked about 2 packs a day and she smokes about one pack. One of the things that got me to quit smoking was her "enviously" razzing me about my smoking twice as much as her and my not having a smoker's "hack" even though she's long had an "unproductive" hack.
I guess the point is that, even though she shouldn't smoke, I'm not entirely convinced her hack is due to smoking. She's been to the doctor countless times about it and the issue remains unresolved so maybe it is some kind of systemic inflamation in some undefined percentage of MS'ers?

I have this. It is worse in the winter when people are burning wood and coal. However, I have multiple allergies and sensitivities.
Perhaps you have a mild form of asthma? If you are continuously or frequently inhaling something in your environment to which your body is sensitive or allergic, this could cause the inflammation and unproductive cough.
It could be caused by something common like animal dander, laundry detergent, bath soaps, the list goes on and on.
If you do some detective work on your own, and then avoid the irritants, you may be able to lessen the cough considerably.

When I was diagnosed with asthma years ago (well before this MonSter), I was surprised because I didn't have any wheezing, just coughing. My doctor explained that for me, the coughing was my wheezing.
Something to think about, especially if you have mild asthma that wouldn't necessarily show up with the specialist who was looking for something really wrong.

I think you simply have a chlamydia pneumonia infection , just like 90% of MSers and should really consider antibiotics. Please take a look at the antibiotics thread and visit CPn Help . now that the CCSVI crazyness is about to end maybe this community and the big phramas will look at the real infectious cause of MS.
