cord blood and stem cell banking
cord blood and stem cell banking
I haven't looked into stem cells treating MS, but I've heard about it. I'm pregnant and I found a flyer at my doctors about cord blood and Peristem stem cell banking. (The brochure is for createcordbank.com). I'm wondering if this would be something to look into. I know it's a once in a lifetime opportunity, it is expensive and I dont know a lot about it right now. What do you think? Should I look into it?
My daughter (diagnosed with MS about 12 years ago) is having her first child any day now. She and her husband have already researched, compared prices and will have their baby's cord blood stored "just in case". If you are in a position to do it, I would say go for it! Just do your homework...right now there is a limit to how long the blood will last. With stem cell research restrictions removed, no telling what will be available in a few years. I have heard of many "success stories" with using cord blood.
Good luck!

I thought about doing the cord blood thing when my kiddo was born but didn't. My reasoning was that if science did ever figure out how to use this cord blood to cure my disease, I would just have another kid...but if it's genetic, I guess it wouldn't matter, would it?
