Hi, my name is Kylie. I was dx with MS in June 2009 at the age of 28. I ended up in hospital with severe vertigo, migrane like headache and numbness and clumsiness on my right side. After a MRI and a lumbar puncture I was given the dx of MS. I decided against the treatments that the Neuro had offered and have opted to use diet and natural therapies.
Prior to June 2009, the only issue that could be attributed to MS was optis nueritis in the left eye in August 2006. I had an MRI scan then and there was only the one spot on my brain behind my eye. In June 2009, upon an MRI scan I had an additional spot related to my current symptoms. In between these two episodes I have had no symptoms that could be attributed to MS. No fatigue, numbness, muscle pain, sensitivity to heat etc.
I am very active and have an extremely healthy diet due to sensitivities detected when I was young.
I'm really starting to question the diagnosis now due to that lack of symptoms. I only have a slight tightness in my legs which could be related to the sport I play and the regular hiking etc. And approx 95% returned vision in my left eye. My neuro does not want to see me further unless I have any problems, as I am not taking any medication.
Is anyone else in a similar situation as me? Or think of other dxs? Both times my naturopath is thinking it was viral related as both times I had a bad cold/flu before symptoms arose.

Welcome, Kylie. You may well have had something other than MS. On the other hand, it is still early and in many cases MS starts very innocuously. I find your observation of a cold/flu before your episode to be quite important.
In any event, I think you are doing the best thing you can do -- eat a healthy diet (especially low-carb) and exercise.
Stay active.
My best to you.
