23 days to go for me.
Flights and car rental are booked. Bank account verified (I was a bit of a crazy MS-scam-conspiracy-theorist about that I'm afraid), and rooms for the family reserved. For the first time since November, I actually believe this is going to happen.
I've been tootling around travel websites and wanted to pass on some whacky finds.
For starters, lonelyplanet.com calls Katowice the child that is difficult to love--I think bad reviews on travel sites often indicate the most authentic spots w/ the most interesting people.
These looked fun...
Restaurants
*Zakonnicy-Polish monk-themed restaurant w/ Gregorian chants, Lucifer soup, monastic prime rib and ice cream penances
*La Grotta for Italian
*Aluen for Ice Cream
...and Cafés
*Fanaberia-swap your shoes for a Turkish water pipe, backgammon board, and lounge on carpet or sit in wicker basket seats, hanging from ceiling...I may be too naive to know what I'm recommending here.
*Gaudi Cafe-coolest café on the centre's coolest pedestrian street. The coffee and cakes are good, but it's the out-there interior that'll leave you in awe.
*Akant-rabbithole of rescued rubbish, red lampshades, mannequins and fake fireplaces. Hours subject to the whim of owners.

Dr. Simka in Poland
We are travelling to Poland to see Dr. Simka tomorrow (from Canada). Will anyone else be there? Should be an adventure....

Thanks Mangio!
We'd like to blog a little while we're in Poland - does anyone know the best place to do so on this website? Still don't totally know my way around the site - so many categories. Thanks for any suggestions.
(Still cannot believe we're leaving today!).

Good luck on your trip.
My suggestion on sharing the details about your specific trip would be to do what some others have done. Start a new thread here in the CCSVI forum with a title about you - such as "Fraser's trip to Poland Mar 2010." Many of us would love to hear the details!

Good Luck Fraser and the rest of you!!
Hi I'm Kevin4apenny new kid on the block.
I'm amazed at the knowledge you all have and the support you share.
I just deleted my post (I think) and it is very late so this may be a duplicate, sorry
I want to let you know that 'Tokuda Hospital in Sofia' are publishing prices but their site although very informative seems to be corrupted with SOFT PORN!! You Tube clips!! tagged onto their video on the Cardiology section. How??
Centrum seem to be tailor -made and costs include collection and accommodation. However no mention of risks of stents (e.g, migration) but this may be relative for people desperatefor some help. Forgive my barely legible post: my head is spinning with this mad search and your site is a great help. I did apply to Amed Centrum and got a response next day! with news of ?April progrm start.
I have only just discovered the world of Thisisms and all the other 'fora' and 'Blogga'.
I nursed MS in ealy 80's but know I had it since 1977 at least. Not Dx'd til 200 though. Kept reasonably well but now seem to have a wee major RELAPSE just as I embark on a new relationship WITH A BEAUTIFUL AMERICAN WOMAN
but
she is 6000miles away
I am Scottish and trying to plan to go visit. Ok I got to the bit where I poyur out my heart so now I can ging awa'
And that's it .....my FIRST POST

Welcome Kevin,
There is a lot of information on this sight, and a lot of smart people. I recommend you start by reading through some of the sticky notes at the top, especially the one for newbies, and the "just the facts ma'am" and, my personal favorite, the CCSVI history one that is 63+ pages. Totally worth it.
Again, welcome!

I'm embarrassed to say I've been watching the weather forecasts in Katowice. Temperatures have been reaching mid-60's F, and sunny the last few weeks.
However, if you are already thinking about what to pack, April 5-9th week looks like this:
Mon, April 5th--Hi: 42 Lo: 33 w/ snow
Tue, April 6th- Hi: 39 Lo: 30 w/ snow
Wed, April 7th- Hi: 40 Lo: 31 w/ snow
Thur, April 8th- Hi 39 Lo: 33 w/ snow
Hooray for the skybar!
