Is Mara the correct person following the correct protocol

Hi

I have an appointment for a Doppler scan at Dixie on the 26th March. When I booked the appointment they assured (person taking the call at the clinic) me that the proper protocol would be followed.

That being said I have a a question for anyone who has gone for a Doppler scan at that location.

1. Is Mara the proper person to be doing the scan?
2. This should be completely covered in Ontario by OHIP? < which is also what I was told.

I fired my neurologist in 2008 so this is me doing the work have not seen my GP since 2008 as well so if I get any hiccups from him on Monday getting my request for the scan I will be in the market for a new GP in Toronto as well..But I will be going to get the scan on Friday come hell or high water.

I think it is disgusting that MSers need to be put though more hassle for no reason when all we are trying to do is get better.., sorry just a bit of a rant:)

I would suggest getting the actual ultrasound images as well as the radiologist's report. The reason is "reading" the images and raw data is highly dependent on the skills of the particular radiologist. Most have never considered CCSVI before, so might not see something. If you have a copy of the images/data you could potentially be able to show it to other doctors for a second opinion.

Yes, Mara is the technician to see at Dixie X-Ray. I was one of the first MS patients to be scanned by her, so I'm certain she's more experienced now than she was when I went for my appointment.

I also agree with Donnchadh; get a copy of the images and the report (although my report was quite vague).

Doppler test came back negative for CCSVI I have a copy of the report.

I am SPMS so does this mean that they did not looking at the right place or the test was faulty? Or a Venogram with be required now?
Or the Medical establishment ie neurologists got to the clinic and put a stop to what they were doing?

Because there were indication during the test I thought that he blood flow did not seem right ( my opinion) No figures were mentioned on the report of the blood flow only that it was normal? So i was a bit deflated and miffed at the test results.

Comments would be appreciated.

My GP says he is unaware of any vascular surgeon or IR who are aware or supporting CCSVI but is willing to write the script if i find someone willing to look at me further. But this I am again on my own to find for myself. Gee there is something the MS Society could help me with NOT!
