stenting vs balloon

Post by jak7ham9 »

My guess is that as more of these operations are done stents will be used more and more probably better designed ones as the balloons don't seem to last. I guess if balloona were really cheap and easily acessible we could go get reballooned every year. but the is abit nonreality based at this point.

Stents are more guaranteed to stop restenosis but not all balloon angioplasties will automatically restenos (or whatever the word is for that). I'm sure stent technology will get better as more is learned about CCSVI but it will always be best policy to avoid stenting unless truly needed.

However, if a stent is needed then people should definitely get them because allowing restenosis would presumably mean more neurological damage.
