gordon the moron
Well said everyone - wouldn't dream of voting for that moron - even more against him after pathetic response he gave to our petition.

Maybe we need a new approach
We need a new approach. Money talks. Lets form a company. Send out mass emails to all people and friends, asking them to buy shares in the company at say 1.00 per share. Set up clinics that treat Collateral Veinous formations, not MS. Hire doctors that and give them shares in the compay. etc etc etc.

I WAS MENTIONING ON ANOTHER FORUM WE NEED TO FIND FUNDING FOR A LARGE SCALE STUDY OF THOUSANDS. THIS WILL MEAN THE POWERS THAT BE HAVE TO LISTEN. OUR WORLD IS TOO PHARMA DRIVEN GB IS BAD BUT HE IS JUST A FIGURE HEAD. OUR MS SOCIETY WHICH IS PHARMA CONTROLLED ARE THE EXPERTS THE GOVERNMENT LISTENS TOO. MONEY IS POWER AND THE HAVE TONS OF IT FROM ALL THE DRUGS THEY GIVE US FOR TRATING OUR SYMPTOMS. WE ARE PURE PROFIT TO THEM. I HAVE JUST READ AN ARTICLE IN MS DIGEST OF AN NEW IMAGING TECHNIQUE TO SEE DAMAGE IN MS SUFFERERS SO THEY CAN START MAKING NEW DRUGS TO HELP US. I THINK IT IS A WAY TO COMPETE WITH ZAMBONI TREATMENT. SADLY SOME PEOPLE WILL BE TAKEN IN BY THIS. IT IS JUST A WAY FOR THEM TO MAKE MORE MONEY ON US. THEY FUND ALL THESE DRUG THERAPIES BUT NOT ZT AS IT WON'T MAKE MONEY. WE HAVE TO GET A LARGE SCALE STUDY PRIVATELY FUNDED. I THINK ESSENTIAL HEALTH MAYBE OUR ANSWER TO THIS. THEY HAVE SUCH A HOLISTIC APPROACH AND THIS COULD MAKE THEM FOREFRONT IN THE WORLD. WE NEED TO GET RICH BACKERS.

Understand the system, play the game
I do not find name calling helpful to the CCSVI cause. Understand the system of how the NHS and private medicine work (NHS is different in Scotland). Then play the game, instead of getting irrate.
Are there 1000 people in UK willing to pay for private testing and therapy ? (or 1% of pwMS in UK) If yes then you stand a chance of moving forward.
You do not need a large study just people who can pay.
Sorry if this sounds negative but it is only a reality check.

I DISAGREE MARK THEY ARE USING THAT THERE IS NOT ENOUGH EVIDENCE IN EXISTENCE THE WAY IT IS COMING OUT IN DRIBS AND DRABS THEY CAN STILL SAY IT IS NOT PROVEN. THE RESULTS HAVE TO BE ACCRUED TO GETHER. WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A VERY POWERFUL GLOBAL FORCE THAT WE ARE UP AGAINST. THIS HAS TO BE LARGESCALE. PHARMS STAND TO LOSE BILLIONS GLOBALLY AND THEY DON'T WANT TO LET THIS HAPPEN.
I THINK NAME CALLING IS PURELY OUT OF FRUSTRATION OF A VERY FLAWED SYSTEM. ANYWAY SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE.

Why fight the system ?
I only give advice or ask questions. My take on this is:
Why fight the system ?
I was a management consultant in the Pharma industry for many years, so would advise against trying to set up a large clinical trial, but its your choice.

OMG MARK A PHARMA. GUESS I CAN SEE WERE YOUR INFLUENCES ARE. TO ME DRUGS ARE NOT AND NEVER WILL BE THE ANSWER TO THIS. I HAVE SEEN SO MANY PEOPLE ON DRASTIC MEASURES THAT VIRTUALLY KILL THEM BUT DO NOT HELP. I THINK THE PLACEBO EFFECT IS THERE IN MANY DRUG THERAPIES. OH WELL YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO YOUR OWN OPINION AS I HAVE MINE.

Answering L's question for myself
MarkW wrote:

L asks:
Why would advise against the setting up of a trial?
For two reasons L:
1 - large clinical trials cost a lot of money (millions) and take years (2-3 is common) to conduct and report.
2 - large clinical trials will allow the neurologists to say they will wait for the results of the trial before they change practice.
I do not want pwMS to have to wait 3-5 years for CCSVI therapy, what about you ? My recommendation is to get a diagnosis of CCSVI and treat the symptoms. Medical and Pharmaceutical professions have been doing this for years, I suggest CCSVI follows this practice.
What do I know ? I qualified as a pharmacist over 25 years ago and consulted to the pharma industry. I give up.

I AM SORRY MARK BUT IF WE JUST GET TESTED THEN TREAT THE SYMPTOMS WHAT WOULD BE THE POINT OF THAT. WE WOULD BE IN THE SAME POSITION WE ARE NOW IN. EXCEPT WE WOULD KNOW WHAT IS CAUSING ALL OUR SYMPTOMS AND NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THE UNDERLYING PROBLEM.
I HAVE FOUND DRUGS FOR ME ARE UNHELPFUL EXCEPT PERHAPS LDN. PEOPLE ARE VERY CONVINCED OF THE TREATMENT AND IF YOU LOOK AT PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD IT THEY ARE CONVINCED IT HAS HELPED THEM.

MARKW BEING A MANAGEMENT CONSULTANT FOR A PHARMACEUTICAL FIRM EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE NOW RETIRED WOULD DEFINITELY PUT YOU AGAINST THIS TREATMENT. OR HAVE YOU HAD A CHANGE OF HEART NOW RETIRED. YOUR BUSINESS WOULD HAVE BEEN TO GET DRUGS OUT THERE AND MAKE PROFIT. PROFIT MARGINS WOULD CERTAINLY HAVE BEEN A FOCUS IN YOUR JOB SURELY.
