Ah, scorpion, your tale of the yawn is incomplete... science came in with research and showed us the real reason for yawning--scorpion wrote:Sorry the post does not excite but you regarding your yawning... Years ago people used to believe that yawning was a sign that there was not enough oxygen getting to one's brain. When tested scientifcally that belief proved false. Just thought I would give you a lttle history on the yawn.

and oddly enough, since having venous angioplasty, Jeff notices that he is no longer heat intolerant and not yawning as much! You gotta love science! These data indicate that yawning is, indeed, a biological thermoregulatory behavior, triggered by increased ambient temperatures.
But why do we care about yawning? There is a growing body of medical and physiological research that links increased ambient temperatures with the unpleasant symptoms of certain medical conditions. Further, it has also been noted that yawning often precedes an epileptic seizure or a migraine headache among those who suffer from them, and increased yawning is also associated with multiple sclerosis.

oohhh...I could use more foot soldiers in my evil army ......scorpion wrote:So Jeff's angioplasty cooled down his brain???? If you can explain the science behind that I may become one of your devoted followers!

here, one of my loyal subjects explains the mechanism of veins in brain cooling. (note: the emissary veins drain thru the jugulars, and if there is insufficiency, they do not function correctly):
