Hello ;o)

Post by JennInNY »

Hi! I'm Jenn from upstate NY. I've been going through my neurological workup for the past six weeks with MS on the differential diagnosis list, despite a negative brain and c-spine/thoracic MRI. I am having visual and auditory evoked potentials done on Tuesday.

When my MRIs returned negative along with all rheumatological testing, I went to see an ALS specialist at the University of Rochester who after consultation, physical exam and upper and lower EMGs, declared that I did not have ALS (thankfully). She did, however, add MS back to my differential diagnosis listing due to my symptoms and physical exam, and recommended the evoked potentials as well as a spinal tap to look for oligoclonal bands. Also on the differential diagnosis list is hereditary spastic paraplegia but, unfortunately, as I was adopted as an infant with no known family history, it's more difficult to determine the HSP as a diagnosis other than excluding everything else.

Is anyone else from the upstate area?
