AArrgghh! Borderline everything!

Post by Annbanan »

Hello, it's great to have a sounding board!

I am just looking to vent I guess...for the past four years have had slight vision blurriness and a pain off and on behind my eye. Every couple of months a big bout of major fatigue.

Last summer the pain in my eye got worse, I got tingles in the bottom part of my legs which lasted two weeks, I was off balance and walked like I was a little drunk for about a week. Also, two times while sitting down got very lightheaded. One night the pain in my eye spread to around my head. I went to bed and work up in the middle of the night with tingles from head to toe! Went to emergency and they sent me home.

ended up seeing a neurologist who said I had very brisk reflexes....

Brain MRI showed three white spots but he waid they were not in the places usually associated with MS. Had a spinal tap that showed one banding....0 is normal, two is indicative of MS.

Neurologist siad I might have had CIS-clinical isolated ....syndrome butnot sure.....he could not diagnose MS. 2nd opinion neurologist said the same. Pain in the eye remains and no sign of optic neuritis. Only thing that was odd in all neurological tests was the brisk reflexes where my legs fly into the air when the knee is hit. I thought it was rather funny actually!

back and forth to doctors ever since due to fatigue, eye and vision problems...no tingles since last summer, slighly dizzy at times ...

Changes family doctor when she gave me anti anxiey drugs and told me to see a Psychiatrist.

Will repeat MRI in January to see if any change.

Since Zamboni's CCSVI news, I went to have a doppler ultrasound on my neck veins, not sure if the were following Zamboni's protocol or not but beggars can't be choosers....results once again borderline! " marginal decrease in venous flow in the left...."

I am on a waiting list for Poland and Bulgaria just in case but not sure if it will be a waste of time or not. I don't want to get worse.

My new fabulous GP is contacting five vascular surgeons and interventional radiologists in the area in the hopes of having me checked based on a vascular issue (since I haven't actually been diagnosed with MS). That was my idea by the way but she was eager to try.

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated as it is frustrating when everything is 'borderline' and I just have to wait!

Thank you all !

Fingers crossed it's CIS! I think that you're doing the right thing, waiting for a CCSVI investigation.

Good luck!

Hi Annbanan,
I know that diagnosis can be difficult for some. Until you get something figured out with your doctors, you may want to look into other things that you can do such as nutritional issues. For example, Jimmylegs has several good suggestions so you might want to look at her posts. Start with a vitamin D test and supplement if it is low, the ideal level is 125-150 nmol/L. Also consider getting your zinc levels tested. Omega-3 fish oil is good for anyone especially those experiencing neurological issues. Start with a couple of grams per day. Also consider eliminating proinflammatory foods such as trans fat and lowering saturated fat. Green tea is also a good general all around health promoter.
