I always travel with meduical insurance ythrough Amex, but this does not cover travel for the purposes of getting medical treatment.
I had a friend in the insurance industry look around actively foir over a month and she couldn't find coverage for me that would cover complications arising from having treatment.
So, I went with no extra insurance. But, I was only a couple hours from the Canadian border getting treatment and we thought we would make a dash (or rent a private ambulance) to get home if something came up unexpectedly.

Thanks happy. That explains why I'm not having too much luck finding insurance myself! I don't think I can use the same mad dash tactics though. I don't do 'dash' - not for quite a few years. I wish! I do think that's a bit too much for me to expect from the treatment though - I'll settle for not getting any worse. Thanks loads, Eyebrow

Eureka - I have found travel insurance that covers travel for medical treatment abroad. It provides for accommodation and travel in the event that recovery takes longer than anticipated, but it does not cover complications arising from treatment. The company is allclear.co.uk. It cost me £78. Strangely though, they quoted £108 about a week ago. Worth waiting until nearer the time? This is not a reccommendation - I have never used them before. There were 4 other companies offering to insure this kind of travel, but they wanted to charge £800 - £1000!
