Interrupted - What a pain in the neck! (5 wk update Pg 3)
For those already treated, how long after the procedure did your neck give you sharp pain, aching, and feel obvious and swollen for?
9 days apres procedure and mine which was mild at first seems to be getting worse by the day and it seems a bit lumpy by feel on the right, this could be glands though I guess. I had ballooning one on the right jugular and twice on the left. Completed 7 days of Fraxiparine (heparin equiv') and now take 75mg aspirin once a day.
No point going to the local doc' because they'll look at me as if i'm mad, and it is a bit early so i'm just taking Nurofen at the moment. Just wondered how others fared and whether this was normal or not?
P.S. In case you're wondering, the procedure did nada for me, but make things worse and cause problems where there haven't been before at present. Though i'm hoping this will settle down and is just a kickback from travelling stress and surgery

Well it feels swollen from my POV but to the touch doesn't seem particularly so, so I yikes hope notCCSVIhusband wrote:I don't want to scare you ... by any means, and I HOPE I'm wrong, but swelling and pain are a potential sign of clots.
I'd go see if you can get that looked at ... are you on any blood thinning/anti-platelet meds?
As above, completed 7 days on Fraxiparine (heparin) and now 75mg aspirin/day.

Ok thank you newveins. Means I need to keep an eye on the swollen feeling, and only worry if it becomes obvious to the touch. I have emailed the clinic now anyhow, better safe etc.newveins wrote:I was sore and a little stiff for several weeks but not swollen.
Thank you though, you are the first person I have come across to have felt any soreness apres procedure at all! Which is why it's been concerning me a bit xx

I had an intermittent, sharp stabbing pain (side of neck) in the second week after angioplasty. I've also had an intermittent tightness in neck during weeks 2 and 3 after angioplasty. No swelling and soreness only for 2 days after angioplasty. My thoughts with this immediately went to the possibility of restenosis which I have not been checked for.
Coincidentally, I also had tightness in my neck in 2004 and was told that this was anxiety. My life was FAR from being anxiety ridden so I really didn't believe this was the underlying cause. I never took the anxiety med and now wonder if this has something to do with veins stenosing.
Hope someone else may come forward that has felt these sensations in the neck area post angioplasty that has had some further testing to determine what may be going on.
Hopefully, it may be the veins trying to heal the lining that has been taxed with the ballooning.

My neck was stiff and sore; now, nearly 7 months in, I still feel occasional sharp pain on the side with the stent - even some on the side that was only ballooned. Otherwise I am good; had an U/S checkup and things are open and clear.

Far as blood thinners, I only had balloons but will be on plavix for couple months more. I had a history with arterial stents, and will be on aspirin for life on accounta heart.

No, no one local. But i've decided to go to my GP tomorrow and give them a heads up about it. If they feel necessary to send me to A&E for a clot scan then i'll suck it up and take the tutting and grumbling i'll probably get. It's just what you don't want, though, y'know? Taking a risk on a contentious matter and getting an, "I told you so"!Cece wrote:From the information at the bottom of your posts, you have access to a local clinic that could do imaging? That is the only way to check if it's clotting and if you feel off, it seems very reasonable to get it looked at. Have you heard back from the clinic yet?
At the end of the day though, because this obviously this isn't a normal reaction, i'm not going to risk my health now for the sake of pride

Ok feeling less worried as GP's had a feel around my neck and arm and says he thinks it's fine. But has most importantly been supportive and said if the pain or swelling gets any worse then to definitely go back and see him or straight to A&E with swelling.
Bad on me for assuming they'd give me a lecture and disparaging looks!

At least you did the smart thing and went and had a look ... nothing worse than thinking something is wrong and not doing anything about it and only letting it get worse.
I hope it all works out for you ... after my wife's procedure, she complained of chest pains for a few weeks (due to azygous ballooning) - I wouldn't say pain as much as just being able to feel it ... so maybe that's all you have?
