Anyone else have high RBC, high Hemoglobin and high hemocrit

Post by SaintLouis »

I've been taking iron suplements for what seems like ever to get my ferritin stores up (they're almost non-existant) and just had bloodwork done. Oddly enough my ferritin stores are still in the anemia range but my red blood cell count, hemoglobin and hemocrit are all elevated out of normal range. This has never happened before.

I haven't had the chance to talk to the doc yet about it but I'm wondering if that is somehow related to CCSVI/poor blood flow?

I don't know how I'm ever going to get my ferritin stores up if these other numbers are already so high. Now I'm scared to take the iron.

Yes, I have the high Hb, hemocrit, WBC, RBC.
I've been undergoing phlebotomy to reduce my iron levels that were also above normal range last year, which are reasonably low now, but can't seem to get the hemoglobin etc down, I'm just at the top of the normal Hb range after three phlebs (1.5 litres taken).
Ferritin is not a good gauge of true anemia from memory.
I don't have an MS dx, I'm CIS, still trying to find an answer.
Have a look at polycythemia. I'm also being tested for Porphyria.
I also get raynauds syndrome, peripheral neuropathy, hyperpigmentation, urticaria rashes etc.
Hope that helps.
