Thanks, Shayk. As we learned thru Marie's experience with angioplasty on this site, those with RA and MS are at a higher risk for clotting and coagulation issues which could lead to thromboembolism. Inactivity is also linked to this problem. This is why Dr. Dake started testing D-dimer in patients BEFORE angioplasty, and why I encourage all who seek CCSVI treatment to know their coagulation status before angio. The good news in this study is that MS had a bit lower risk of VTE than lupus and RA.

For example, there were 81,950 people in the MS cohort of whom 1,509 had an admission for VTE (1.8%) during the 10-year period covered by the study. As an approximation, in people with MS there was one case of VTE per 264 person-years at risk.
