Terry's Nails - anyone?

I'm wondering if Terry's Nails is prevalent at all among CCSVI'ers/MSers?

My nails have taken on the odd appearance of Tery's Nails (I'm heading the the doc this week for an official look-over) and from what I've read on the internet it is mostly associated with liver problems (ugh) but I think it can also go along with vascular problems. Not 100% sure though.

Just curious is there are many others on here with it.

@shannon: Terry's nail is a serious condition, and it might as well be vascular somewhere. Why would you think this is spam?

No Terry's nails, myself. Could it at all be related to elevated liver enzymes like what Cheer has described?

Hyperthyroidism stands out to me, since jugulars' collaterals drain through the thyroid and maybe can cause thyroid issues.

I only have one small moon on my left thumb.

When I had a venogram six weeks ago, I had a 70% stenosis in the left renal vein.

I was treated for major blockages in both internal jugulars, the azygous, the left renal and the left common iliac. The blockages ranged from 70 to 95%. So far, there has been no change, no better, no worse.

Thank you all for the quick replies. I also only have the half moons on my thumbs but they too have that weird dark red section that has developed at the end of the nail bed.

I got in with my IM doc about it late today and he said he had no idea what it was but that it was not normal! (sigh) He said it is likely vascular somehow and has referred me on to a dermatologist who he thinks will know more.

I wish my thyroid numbers would show up out of whack but the never do, they're always dead-on perfect so I'm not too hopeful about the hyperthyroid. But I guess it's possible they could swing around quickly and never be caught in the act?

More food for thought. Thanks again for answering my strange question!

stL, have you ever had your zinc level tested? the liver is showing up prominently terry's nails descriptions, and i recall a case study where an ms patient went into remission after liver transplant.

my nails get messed up when my nutrient levels are down. sometimes they separate from the nailbed, sometimes they get little divots scattered across. if i smarten up and replace whatever i've run out of and get diligent, the problems resolve.

Jimmylegs - I don't believe anyone has ever pulled my zinc levels. I will ask my derm about it when I see her today (they actually squeeezed me in - shocking!).
