Hello
I have suffered from writers cramp (focal dystonia) for last fifteen years before my diagnosis of MS. I never knew that the writing difficulty, I was experiencing is actually a neurological condition. Lately I have come to know that many persons without MS also suffer from this disease. Is MS and writers cramp related? Please comment. Also do give advice for writers cramp's treatment. Thanks
writers cramp (focal dystonia). Is it related to MS?

you may want to consider the possible connection btw this cramp and magnesium status...

Re: writers cramp (focal dystonia). Is it related to MS?
Focal dystonia could probably be caused by MS, just like a million other sx, but there's no reason to think FD has any special association with MS.Taurus wrote:Is MS and writers cramp related? Please comment. Also do give advice for writers cramp's treatment. Thanks
My guess is that my own hand and foot sx match the description of FD, but are actually MS spasms. Sometimes I can actually end a spasm just by moving my fingers (with my other hand)...
I believe the best "treatment" is to move your hands differently than for writing (or playing music, in my case) as much as possible.
Best of luck,
Mark
