Trans-diffferentiation of MSCs

Post by Tracker »

This has been posted before :
Professor Shilom Slavin CTCI Tel Aviv Israel
"More recently we have discovered a new, potentially more advanced approach to educate multi-potential Mesenchymal Stromal Stem Cells (MSCs) to trans-differentiate into neural stem cells and also directly to motor neurons. Committed neural stem cells can be further pushed to differentiate into astrocytes, dopaminergic neurons [which could provide treatment for Parkinson's disease], and oligodendrocytes [the cells responsible for the production of myelin indicated for treatment of the demyelinising lesions in the brain and spinal cord in patients with Multiple Sclerosis].
In fact, our new methods make it possible to regenerate brain cells damaged in nearly all neurological disorders for many patients in need."
But this bit hasn't :
We need 6-12 months pre-clinical trials to prove efficacy, which can be facilitated pending adequate financial support, USD$2-3million and once proven, clinical application will be available immediately.

Just 6-12 months, & USD$2-3million between now & oligodendrocytes being available to treat our MS...Anyone got the $$?

If this is true (which I have no reason to doubt), I expect the Israeli ministry of science will be happy to provide the much needed funding. If not, nasdaq would!
