Newly Diagnosed at 53
Newly Diagnosed at 53
I was shocked to be diagnosed with MS at age 53. All my life I had heard that MS was the disease of YOUNG adults. I have been on Copaxone for two months now, and tolerating it pretty well. Already it appears to be having a positive effect. Not as much as I'd like, but I am told that that will take time. But I least I am hopeful that I can return to a normal life. My mobility is not that good.
Re: Newly Diagnosed at 53
I got the dx at 56, after not really having any symptoms until maybe 54, which were very mild. We, and especially males, have to be concerned about going directly into a progressive stage. If you have actually had the disease for a long while, you may not have to worry so much about that. My symptoms came on gradually, then hit fairly quickly, then ease up. I have no idea what stage I am in yet - possibly PP, but also possibly RR.
Are you taking supplements? D3, B12, calcium, magnesium, etc? Malic Acid, LDN?

Re: Newly Diagnosed at 53
Thank you, everybody. I am diagnosed with RRMS. I take vit D and magnesium, but unfortunately I don't have a lot of money to spend on supplements. I am planning to not use sunscreen anymore, so I can absorb more natural vitamin D. Right now I am getting Meals On Wheels, but I would like to try a whole foods approach later.
