The Elk's organization ( a great organization for their charity donations) puts out a monthly magazine. There is always a healthline article. This month they tried to explain MS. They did a good job with explaining what it is. The only problem is at the end of the article the doctor who wrote it concludes that there aren't any drugs that are worth the money or the risks for MS! She says that all they can do for MS sufferers is to provide help with their disabilities, i.e. give us better canes!!

Words fail me when I hear medical people still think like that. I'm not an Elk so I can't access the article to refute it. Some of us might have some wacko ideas but we are not as blind as the authoritative Dr Reid.

But I do agree in her assessment of the current approved drugs that are available to try and treat MS. They don't provide all that much of a consistent efficacy, their cost is beyond expensive and the risks and side effects are becoming larger as the producers make these medications more radically effect the way your immune system operates.
They are treating MS as though it is an auto-immune disease and nobody has ever been able to prove that theory. The huge variance in how the drugs effect the patients supports, in my opinion, that MS's cause is something different and the immune system is but one small part of the equation.
