My Wife May Have MS

My wife's body has suddenly collapsed. About 10 days ago she began to feel numbness in her feet and hands. A few days later she was having trouble walking. Now she can't stand or walk without help. She is only 32, not overweight, and otherwise in good health. It got so bad last week she went to the hospital. They ran multiple tests including an MRI. The radiologist said it did not appear to be demyelination, and the doctor said he thinks it is stress related and not physical. But her body gets weaker every day. She has had many other symptoms, too, like double vision, speech difficulty, and constipation. She's trying to see a neurologist today. These symptoms sound like they could be MS or MS-related neurological problems. Can those of you with experience please comment on what this sounds like as I am new to all of this?

Sorry to hear of the serious problems with your wife's health.

Generally, (hate using that term with MS) that speed of disability progression doesn't happen with MS. It normally takes much longer for those symptoms to reach the point that your wife has encountered.

This is only an opinion and your wife obviously needs to see a neurologist and have some tests done to hopefully find out what is going on. The best of luck to both of you.

That's important information to know. I saw a thread below and a reply suggested Lyme disease in that case. I told my wife she should get tested for that as it sounds very similar to her symptoms.

My thoughts are with you. You said that she has had constipation, this means her digestion is suffering for some reason. Also she is weak and unwell right now which means even less energy to digest.

Make her nutritious restorative food right now, cut the oil, spice, sugar, caffeine and refined white flour products. Concentrate on vegetables especially green leafy ones, and simple home cooked foods.

Whatever is wrong can only be helped by feeding the body with healing foods and she will at the least feel less toxic if her digestion starts working again.

I hope this finds you both with some answers and hope.

Since I believe that too much insulin in the body is responsible for MS symptoms, I agree with Okasan about cutting down sugar and white flour from the diet; I agree with the recommendation to "concentrate on vegetables especially green leafy ones." These diet changes will reduce her blood sugar and the insulin response to it. By the way, a slender person can have a high insulin level.

I encourage everyone with the MS diagnosis or symptoms to request a "fasting blood insulin test" (the optimal result is 3 UU/ML or lower). The INSULIN test is NOT the same as the glucose test done for diabetes.
