Quiting inerferons?

If it's on your mind and it has to do with multiple sclerosis in any way, post it here.

Quiting inerferons?

What can you expect when you quit one of the inerferon drugs (Avonex, Rebif, Betaseron) after a decent length of time (not a couple of doses)?

I was on Avonex for 10 years. I stopped a few years ago because I was progressing anyway and I was getting some unusual side effects, e.g., skin lesions on my back, which I thought might be related to the Avonex. Three years later I'm still sliding downhill, but haven't had any major attacks.

I was on Avonex for 15 years and just stopped it in November because my MS doctor said I am no longer RRMS, I have become SPMS and Avonex is for RRMS. I haven't had any trouble with quitting, no big relapses, just a slow steady worsening over the past 7 years. I am trying low dose naltrexone and hope to try medical marijuana soon since my state of Maryland just approved it.

Good luck to you.

Dx RRMS 1990
took Avonex for 15 years
Dx SPMS 2013
started LDN 3 mg. 11/2013
