Questions for Neuro

Hi everyone

I have not been diagnosed, however i have had the numbness, tingling etc for 2 months.
I had the blood tests done and all came back " normal" which i'ved learned through Jimmylegs that can be deceiving. I do have what I consider a low B12 level, which is 400.

Anyway, i originally had my neuro appointment for Sept30 which is 5 months from now but the doc called today and i guess they had a cancellation because im going this Monday the 28th.

Im wondering what sorts of tests will be done at the neuro and what sorts of questions I should ask? I do have a brain MRI scheduled for May 11th, which my GP ordered. Im assuming the neruo wont have much to say until those results come back? I am happy to be getting in to see the neuro so fast, since I know these appointments can take forever to get into. I want to be prepared and armed with all the questions I should ask

Numbness/tingling in the extremities (hands and feet) is the classic definition of "peripheral neuropathy." If you present with peripheral neuropathy and your doctor suspects MS, which is a diagnosis of exclusion, the following description of a neurological exam is offered by the University of Chicago:

Blood tests

Blood tests are commonly employed to check for vitamin deficiencies, toxic elements and evidence of an abnormal immune response.

Depending on your individual situation, your doctor may request certain laboratory tests to identify potentially treatable causes for neuropathy. These include tests for:
• Vitamin B12 and folate levels (Your B12 level of 400 pg/mL falls in the "gray zone," according to the book, Could It Be B12?)
• Thyroid, liver and kidney functions
• Vasculitis evaluation
• Oral glucose tolerance test
• Antibodies to nerve components (e.g., anti-MAG antibody)
• Antibodies related to celiac disease
• Lyme disease
• HIV/AIDS
• Hepatitis C and B

Compare this with your neuro's plan of investigation.
