Magnesium threonate
A recent study on the mouse model of Alzheimer's disease I believe showed that this type of magnesium can help prevent neuronal degeneration. Has anybody tried it for MS. It is kind of pricey. The reviews on Amazon or mixed. The claim is that it crosses the blood brain barrier more easily. I read some time ago that people with MS have low tissue magnesium levels.
Re: Magnesium threonate
personally, i have not tried it. i'd go for making sure my dietary magnesium levels were up (to ensure beneficial cofactors were going in as well), plus supplemental mag glycinate if and as needed (about half the cost of mag threonate), and see where i was at using symptoms as well as serum levels, before i invested in a new supplemental form.

Re: Magnesium threonate
I wouldn't rely on reviews from Amazon. Is there anything published on it on PubMed?
It looks like there are 53 papers, some of them are available for free.
