hyperbaric treatment?

If it's on your mind and it has to do with multiple sclerosis in any way, post it here.

hyperbaric treatment?

Post by Youarethecure »

I searched and only found things related to hyperbaric treatments that were pretty old.

I have a customer (shes a psychologist) who really wants me to look into this. I am just curious as to what the general idea is for this type of treatment and MS.

She said she saw patients with autism being treated and showing positive results along with ms as well. I know it is very expensive, but I am just interested to learn more about it and the benefits it could provide for us.

Thanks for any insight,

Chris

My dad tried it and did not get any relief. Some people say it works, but most say it does not (I am referring to MS only). It is certainly worth a try to see if it works for you.

I do oxygen therapy daily (not in a chamber) and don't know whether it helps or not.

There are numerous threads on this site about HBOT - do a search.

There is no doubt at all that it works ( seems beneficial) - for some!
It seems to be beneficial for sports joint injuries.
I have two MS friends who have tried it in the same center - one says it helps a lot and has it regularly, one said it did nothing and gave up.
The only problem that I know of it that it can exacerbate eye problems - and with an incipient cataract in one eye, I am certainly not going to take the risk of not being able to drive for even a few weeks.

of course this helps.
it shows that MS is a problem with the feeding of mitochondria.
extra oxygen will impriove he working of the ion pump, it is like putting a turboprop on the engine.

I tried Hyperbaric twice weekly for around two years at enormous expense around the same time I started Avonex and Valtrex. At the time I actually didn't feel much at all. Some MRI's showed some reduction in lesions but as I was trying many things at once I couldn't say what was doing what. In the end I didn't think it was making much difference. Maybe I was wrong but I just don't know.
Where it will help is the suppression on anaerobic bacteria and some revascularation of scar tissue. I know it can help with those things but I just found it too hard to be objective and it was really draining on the finances.

On balance I doubt it will cure much but it's worth a try if there is a tangible benefit you can identify.
