One morning earlier this year I woke up with a tingling hand. It was the same feeling you get when you've held a limb in a position for too long. After the tingling did not go away I went and saw my doctor. By this time the tingling had started moving up a little further up my arm. Over the course of four months both of my arms and legs were tingling and going completely numb sometimes. At one point I even had a spot on my face that was going numb and tingling in my ears. I also had a very bad back pain in my mid back about where my ribs meet my back. I was alos getting random tremors in my arms, especially my right arm. It all started to go away after about four months and by the sixth month all of the symptoms had gone away.
During this time my doctor had MRI's done of my back and brain. There were no lesions. I had a nerve study done and nothing. So now I worry. The doctors don't really seem to know what caused the symptoms and have taken an "Oh well, at least it went away" kind of attitude. Everybody was concerned until the MRI's came back negative for lesions.
I've just kind of blown off the whole experience, but sometime during these last two weeks the tingling has come back in my ears, and I've had some tremors in my arms that lasts for about a minute.
Is this something I should be worried about? Has anyone that was diagnosed with MS not show lesions for the first year or so?
I really hope somebody can shed some light on this for me.
Thanks,
Jeff
First flare up without lesions?
Re: First flare up without lesions?
It is possible you had no obvious inflammations on your MRI, if this was your first flare. It is also necessary, I would think, to see a neurologist who could better evaluate your MRI results, as well as your symptoms. I can't believe an MS specialist would ever say, "Well, good thing it went away!" Best of luck.
