Hello! This is my first time posting to this forum. I am 37 years old and may have MS. Three years ago I started having a lot of muscle pain, trouble walking and confusion. My OBGYN sent me to see a Rheumatologist. The rheumy diagnosed me immediately with RA, although I had no joint swelling. The only thing abnormal on my blood work was a very high c-reactive protein (inflammation). I trusted the doctor and believed that I had RA. Although, most of the medications I was put on did not help my symptoms, especially the morning stiffness. Three months ago I started getting a severe headache, blurry vision, dizziness, brain confusion and muscle spasms. I went to the eye doctor first and my vision had decreased significantly in the six months since I had it last checked. I went to my pc doctor about the headache that would not go away (I have never experienced headaches before). He put me on several prescriptions and none of them work. He finally sent me to a neurologist who ordered a brain MRI. The MRI showed several lesions. My headache finally went away after two months. I still have several instances of dizziness through out the day and my vision is still bad and blurry at times. I have also started getting bizarre "hot spots" on my body. The first one occurred on my thigh. It felt like someone had put a hot cup of coffee against my leg, but my thigh was not hot to the touch. This lasted on and off for 30 minutes. I have also had this happen to my upper arm, below my knee and my chest. My only other symptom is after I have been using my hands for something for awhile they go very weak. I went to my rheumy yesterday and is now wondering if I have ever had RA and I have been experiencing ms symptoms this whole time. My neurologist is not ready to diagnose me with ms yet and says he may change his mind in a few months or years. This is so frustrating for me because I want to know what is going on with me. I would like to find a new neuro that doesn't just wring more money out of me and just gives me an answer. Does anyone in the Phoenix area know of a good neuro? I live in the East Valley.
Thanks so much!
