I am so confused, what is going on with me?

If it's on your mind and it has to do with multiple sclerosis in any way, post it here.

I am so confused, what is going on with me?

I will try to be breif, not sure if that is possible. I am not sure where to begin. I am so fatigued. numbness and tingling in arms and legs. blurred vision in only one eye off and on. bowel and bladder retention. tingling in left ear (weird, I know). pain in lower back that runs down left leg. vibrating sensation in right heal (this one is most resent). muscle tension in neck and upper back and into shoulders (causes severe headaches). forgetful (extremely forgetful), loss of concentration. cant seem to find the right word at times and stop mid sentence. anxiety, depression. All of this getting worse over the past 1 1/2 or so. The dr has me taking 3600mg of neurontin daily for the neck and low back pain......i take 150mg of effexor for my hotflashes due to my hysterectomy in 2000. I am 41 and feel like im 80. I dont know what to do......

You need to see a real doctor- real soon. Ask to be referred for a neurological evaluation by a neurologist. Has any doctor mentioned the phase "possible Multiple Sclerosis"?

I can think of about 18 diseases and conditions that could explain your symptoms. A simple MRI with contrast may be in order. You must get a quickie kidney test before the MRI with contrast.

I am not a big fan of Neurontin. It made me feel quite crappy after about 2 months of taking the stuff. If you tell the doctor that he will just double the dose. Lots of luck with that stuff.

I have had all those symptoms all at once also. The fatigue thing was my BIG problem - my job was VERY demanding and my wife was very sick.

I just ignored it and "kept on trucking". After about two years of this I lost a lot vision in my right eye, had optic neuritis (pain in eye) and almost no color vision in that eye.

I went to Johns Hopkins and at age 52 they said it was MS for sure.

P.s. Most symptoms just went away. I took Avonex, Valtrex and lots of flavonoids.

hi and welcome LB :)

for my part, i can think of about 5 essential vitamins and minerals that it could be worth your while to investigate and which alone or in combination could be linked to a variety of your symptoms including fatigue, numbness, tingling, tinnitis (perhaps that is what you mean by 'tingling' in left ear?), muscle tension, cognitive function, anxiety and depression.

if you are interested in pursuing some related lifestyle approaches, i can help :)

Have you been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis?

One thing to note is that 3600mg of neurontin is a relatively high dose and can cause fatigue is some people. You may consider reducing the dose.

I definitely agree with jackD that you may benefit from seeing a neurologist if you don't have a diagnosis.
