Re: my wife on a coma from MS
I'm not a doctor. I'm just another person with MS. But I've never heard of a case of MS like that. Usually there are symptoms first, such as numbness, vision problems, loss of control of muscles. For someone to go from being perfectly healthy to being in a coma doesn't sound like MS. Usually a patient develops symptoms such as I've mentioned. If the doctor suspects MS he would probably send the patient to a Neurologist. The Neurologist would send her for an MRI and/or spinal tap. A positive result on either of those might indicate MS. Was any of that done for your wife? If not you need to get a different doctor.

I agree,
Whilst I am not a doctor either, that does not sound like MS.
Get a different doctor now.

Stelio was your wife given an MRI? If not, I don't know how MS could even be diagnosed.
I wish you and your wife the best.

Re: my wife on a coma from MS
Hello Stelios,
My son soon to be 24 years old; I ended up having to go to UK and bring him back here to Cyprus. He has many brain lesions in not so good places, as well as one on the spinal cord; he not good at all. I been doing lots and lots of reading and researching. My mother too had MS and also my nephew has it (my sister's son). But my son like my nephew seem to have a very bad form of it.
With MS it so unpredictable, lesions where they are located, seems to be what matters the most, on how badly a person is going to be effected by it. Though rare there is what is termed 'malignant MS' involving rapid progression.

Hi,
It may be a demyelinating disease but it doesn't sound like MS to me. Even the treatments don't fit.
Why are they giving antibiotics? Are there any other symptoms?

Stelio.
I wish your wife a rapid recovery.
There are rare variants of "multiple sclerosis" which can cause aggressive CNS demyelination and can present very aggressively, often mimicking tumors or central nervous system infections. Sometimes, these can be cause "tumefactive multiple sclerosis" or "marburg variant multiple sclerosis" or "balo's concentric sclerosis"
If you can upload a few pictures of the MRI scan and show the spinal tap results, we may be able to give you some input.
Again, I wish your wife a rapid recovery
