Dizziness in MS
Dizziness in MS
Hello All,
I got diagnosed 6 months back, having lesion in brain and few in spine. I am on Copaxone for last 4-5 months. I am having dizziness on most of the days. But my MS doctor's says dizziness is not the symptom of MS. May be she says as I was Clinical diagnosed.
Please suggest is anybody else faced dizziness in early stages of MS.
Thanks
Stay Happy !!!

Re: Dizziness in MS
Yes. And yes, dizziness is a symptom of MS (keep in mind that everybody's symptoms are different and not everyone will experience dissiness). Frankly, not sure why your doctor would say that.

Re: Dizziness in MS
Dizziness is a symptom of MS. Loss of vestigial balance can be devastating. It can be responsible for bad falls. Be careful.

These symptoms will likely get better as time passes. You will just need to be patient.
Re: Dizziness in MS
Hi,
I'd have a good think about seeing a doctor who knows so little.
The other thing you could consider is your blood pressure. Vasodilation is an issue is MS. Buy a monitor and check your blood pressure at regular times of the day. It's a two minute exercise. If you feel dizzy check it then and see if it is different.
Dizziness can mean different things. It can be a sign of how well your eyes operate together. If you walk towards a crowd how easy is it for you to focus on many moving objects? If its hard then and people seem to be shuddering all over the place then that can make you dizzy and its probably one of your eyes rotating more slowly than the other. If the ground sometimes swims in front of you did you just stand up from sitting or lying down? That can be eyes or blood pressure.
You may be having issues with proprioception. That occurs when some muscles don't respond as well as others and your own sense of self in space is disturbed. (ie you think your leg is a little differently placed than it actually is)
Elliot is right. You will find that it becomes less of an issue with time.
Regards,

Thanks for your responses, it gives me lot of comfort and support.
My doctor is member of national multiple sclerosis society. Her profile looks good but I don't know why she is saying this dizziness is not related is not related to MS.

Hi,
We can all join good causes. The question you always need to ask with doctors is "do you make a difference?" If the answer is no then find another. Bedside manner is not always good medicine.

That is a good question to ask your doctor to clarify exactly why she is saying that. (She may be saying that YOUR dizziness is not related is not related to your MS - not to cause you any worry you but perhaps there is something else going on that you need to know about.)

Re: Dizziness in MS
Yes Elliot, that's exactly my thoughts may be she doesn't want that I think that these things are related(based on the lesion she sees on MRI)
But she also says that we can treat only your MS and this is not MS and never point to any other direction may be it's job of my primary care.
Thanks alot, now I will check my BP and eye test.
