Blown off by doctors

Post by Shang »

So I have had many symptoms
If you want to find my latest posts it is under "general discussion" and "undiagnosed". the title is named "I think have MS like crazy".

Anyways, these are my symptoms
Twitches.
Blurred vision.
Atrophy of my arms and legs.
Soreness.
Weightless feeling.
Hearing increase and loss.
Headache
Heavy eye
Shoulder pain
Memory issues
Heat itch and itch as soon as I get out of shower
Feet burning
Crackling in head
Numbness
Taste of metal in mouth.

I was diagnosed with sinus itis!!! How the hell do you diagnose me with something like that when not one symptom I have is similar. NOT ONE!! Doctors can be idiots. A myth busted!! I want to push for a spinal tap. How do I go about doing it. My MRI came back normal. These doctors are killing me.

I can barely hold my head up at work today and they have the nerve to tell me sinus itis.

You're right about the doctors. Also I think the medical schools must teach them that if they don't know what's wrong with the patient then the patient must be crazy. So don't be surprised if they want to send you to a shrink.

MS is a weird disease. The symptoms can vary widely from one patient to the next. I think all the symptoms you mention could be MS but aren't necessarily MS. Have you asked your docs about getting a spinal tap? Why wouldn't they do that if MS is a possibility?

We had to really push the doctor to do something for my husband. She said it's vertigo, and so on, a month later I was fighting with her telling her it's NOT vertigo. She did a CT scan, nothing. I told her just because she can't figure it out doesn't mean you just stop.

Finally she did an MRI, NINE LESIONS on his brain. We waited two damn weeks for results before I went to her office demanding answers.

We got a referral for a neurologist and never looked back, the FIRST damn appointment the neurologist said "I'm 100% sure this is MS" and we did a spinal tap to confirm.

Switch doctors, find someone who will listen, and WTF, an MRI on the spine but not the brain? *sigh* My husband didn't have lesions appear on his spine until 6+ years later.

I'm sorry but I sure hope he got better. They actually did do my brain. My brain was clean, however they didn't do a spinal tap. I know ms can be in either area. The only reason I'm so scared is because of the atrophy. That's why I'm angered :/
I don't want my. Muscles getting all f'd up. God forbid.

What were his first symptoms if you can share. How did it progress?

Don't be too mad at your doctor. Many of your symptoms are consistent with Sinusitis. But not all of them. Any you may actually have it. But it is more likely you have something else. MS and other more serious illnesses can be quite difficult to diagnose, especially for doctors who don't have specialized training.

Since you suspect MS, why not see a neurologist that specializes in MS. This may be the best starting point for finding out what truly ails you.

FWIW, my GP came up with the same diagnosis. He suggested I see an ENT (Ear Nose Throat specialist) and the ENT suggested I see a neurologist as I did not have a sinus infection. Turns out his suspicions were correct.

Good luck in getting the right diagnosis and hope you are feeling better soon!

Have you been tested for a vitamin B12 deficiency yet? If so, what were the results?

I'm not saying that a B12 deficiency is your specific problem, but it is something that can cause a plethora of neurological symptoms and it's fairly straightforward (and also inexpensive compared to a CT or MRI) to test for and eliminate as a possibility.

For more info on B12, you may be interested in reading the book "Could It Be B12? An epidemic of misdiagnosis" by Sally Pacholok and Jeffrey Stuart. http://b12awareness.org/could-it-be-b12 ... a-release/

You have a low immunity of the naso pharynx.

This sets in motion a long cascade of events that results in MS.

The average doctor will not know or understand.

If you have a clean MRI, then that's a good thing. Something to celebrate even. God,I'd love not to have those damn lesions. Your symptoms read like anxiety, largely. You should see an MS brain.
Your doctors are NOT killing you.
I live with malignant hypertension. It's already scarred my brain and affected my kidneys and my heart. It arrived with ms.
Why do you want a seriously crap disease like MS?
Focus on getting well. It will help you so much.

Sorry. MS is terrible. I want it out of my brain and I really want to be rid of the risk of stroke or heart attack.
I do what I can to be well. So should you.

I'm not wanting this disease. My symptoms have gotten worse now though. The atrophy is increased and I'm not able to flip my hands as quickly as I could back and forth. I was doing that to test mug and strength I know it's weird but that's what "hypochondriacs" do I guess. People don't seem to take me serious. I have had a clean MRI but that was of my brain. My neck or spine hasn't been checked yet. I will be extremely suprised and happy if this turns out to just be stress. I was referred to a neuro I just have to find the time to give them a call and reschedule. More than likely this week.

I "fired" my first two neurologists. The first one because when I was DX she was very insensitive. ( granted I was just DX and very "raw" ) after she DX'd me, at the same visit, she said I should stop working crawl in a corner and die!! Well, not that exactly but close. The second one had no eye contact with me..strange. I love, love my current Neuro!!!
