Re: Multiple sclerosis relapses ‘common’ during 20-year peri
OK so I have PPMS and I've never had a relapse during my 20 years with this monster. As far as I know, people with PPMS by definition do not have relapses. So this article sounds like an excuse to put people on the DMDs when they are not having relapses and won't benefit from the drugs. Sell more drugs that way I guess.Dr Novotna and colleagues noted that relapses may continue after the onset of the progressive phase in 14 per cent of patients with MS, and that even in patients with primary progressive MS, post-progression relapses can occur.
“Since ongoing relapses add to the disability burden of progressive MS patients, disease-modifying treatments can be continued or initiated during the overlapping period,” they wrote.
