Neurologist frustrations!

Post by skye2010 »

So I've had symptoms since March of this year. I've had all the tests except a lumbar puncture everything came up normal. I seen a neurologist today and he literally said to me it's MS or nothing you choose. I was reading some reviews about the Dr and they said he won't be interested unless there is a brain mass. I'm not sure what to take away from that as what I'm experiencing can't be "nothing".

It sounds like you may need to see a different doctor. Is your current doctor an MS specialist? There are many other conditions which can mimic MS-like symptoms.

Hi no he isn't an MS specialist. I'm in Australia I just thought all neurologist were the same.all you tests were good except for a minor iron deficiency which I've always had no matter what I do and I think my kidney function test was slightly elevated. I don't have the exact numbersame with me at the moment.

My first neurologist, after viewing my MRI and knowing there was MS in my family was certain I did NOT have MS. I then went to a neurologist that specializes in MS, she read the exact same MRI and confirmed my MS diagnosis.

So you may want to seek out another neurologist who is a MS specialist. But of course, this one may actually be correct with his diagnosis. MS is often a difficult disease to diagnose.

Where in Australia are you? I really don't think much of the neurologist you mentioned at the start of this.
