Walkaide Insurance News!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by chrishasms »

The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has assigned the
code E0770 covering the cost of the WalkAide for patients with
Incomplete Spinal Cord Injury. Although currently Medicare only covers
the WalkAide for incomplete spinal cord injury, this code now gives
Innovative Neurotronics the tools to seek possible reimbursement for
foot drop patients with private insurance who are diagnosed with Stroke,
Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy, and Traumatic Brain Injury.
Innovative Neurotronics can submit a request for insurance
reimbursements on behalf these patients following a successful WalkAide
trial.

Finally!!

no insurance coverage for the WalkAide.

If I purchase one (I have Medicare primary, Aetna secondary) do I prod them to use the code you mentioned or get the WalkAide company involved?

Or try to fight it out myself with appeals?

Thx

Insurance coverage

I have BCBS. I promptly received a letter from them (early April 2009)that the WalkAide would not be covered. I decided to purchase the WalkAide any way (early June 2009) and wrote a check to the rehab center where I was going. A short time later, I checked my account on-line and was shocked to see that my insurance HAD covered the costs of the WalkAide. I called the finance department at the rehab center and they issued me a refund check (once they actually received their money from BCBS).

Well that is surprising. I would love to get one for my husband, but am in France and don't have the money. Still, would love to hear how you get on with it, so PLEASE report back.
