My PCP Is Reading the Research, May Order CT Venography

Post by marcstck »

I met with my primary care physician yesterday, and presented him with 2008 Zamboni research paper. He did a cursory look at it as I explained its implications, and he was impressed enough to commit to reading the paper, as well as further research that I sent him via e-mail last night.

He seems very open to ordering the CT venography that Dr. Dake recommended. I told him that we'd probably need to order it for "recurring headaches" for insurance purposes, and he said he would look into that further, and figure out what other symptoms he could come up with that would necessitate the CT scan.

I should be hearing back from him in a few days. I'll keep everyone posted...

Great news, Marc. The headaches investigation worked for Jeff, since he did actually have vascular headaches and his lesions were almost all cerebral. Made sense with his jugular blockage. Dr. Dake mentioned "swelling and edema" as an indicator for scanning in those with spinal lesions. Hope that helps...keep us posted.

I'm glad you are getting somewhere, Marc. I almost emailed you very late last night for an update, but I saw this morning you were working on your new blog. I can't wait to hear what your PCP will do to get this covered by insurance. I'm letting you pave the way for me to take it to my PCP rather than fly to Cali for the CT scan. All my best for 100% insurance coverage and sme resolution.

Marc,

My PCP was really cool as well. I faxed him the paper and he had read it by the time I got into my appt! I had just sent it to him since I was asking him to do the aftercare, and he's all over it! I wish you well man and I'll make sure to have him put "recurring headaches" on my referall as well.

My PCP as well. She read the abstract and my explanation about Dr. Dake and she thinks it is really exciting and is ready to help as much as she can. My neuro is intrigued too. So best of luck pursuing it all!
