Help! Which wheelchair!!!

Post by petrathehun »

Hi :D ,
I was diagnosed with a really aggressive form of PPMS last October, which meant that I went from Salsa queen to struggling on crutches in just 6 month. I intend to probably get myself of scooter for cruising around in my home town at some stage, but I still have extensive travel plans. So I’m looking for a foldable power wheelchair that I can “man” handle, i.e. getting it in and out of planes, taxies etc. Can anybody help? I don’t even know where to start looking and I’m going on a cruise with my mum at the end of August and need it by then. My mum is 81 and can’t lift anything heavy and it’s got to be electric as I want to be as independent as I can. I could buy in either the UK - I live in Somerset - or in North Germany.
I’m grateful for any suggestions.

I know that they are available not just wishful thinking. I saw one that collapsed in two...very small seat. Small girth all together. I don't know what one would weigh or cost. I would start roaming the internet, brouse through online catalogs....

Good Luck and good travels

That's great. Thank you. At least I know I'm not chasing a dream. Should you come across anything, please post me a link to the websit. So far I only found the standard models.

Brilliant. Thank you. :)

I'm still trying to find my way round the internet. There's soooo much information and I just don't know where to start, so any link is greatly appreciated.

I just wanted to say hi and that I also made the descent from salsa queen to crutches in the last year. Can't offer any advice on wheelchairs unfortunately, just started looking myself. Take care and if you ever want to discuss the joys of the NHS or whatever, please pm me.
