It is a fact that in spinal cord injury a large part of the damage is the immune system trying to heal the injury--it makes it worse...
stroke in mice heals better with a immune suppressant, as far as I know it is not yet standard practice for people yet....but they know a good portion of the damage after a stroke was caused by the immune system activation trying to heal
