Hi all,
I am having a relapse for last one and half months ,rather more than that.At first my neuro gave me myetilepredinsolone 16 mg*2 a day for five days taking which i felt wonderful for a day or two and than back to square one.One and half months before the conditions are extremely bad and i went for three IVs of Methylprenisolone Sodium Succinate 1000 mg each, but till now i am not being able to move as before the relapse started. In 2006 i had a smiler relapse and after taking five IVs i felt really well. Now I am confused and depressed ,i do not know what to do and praying for your suggestions pleaseeeeeeeeee.I think it worth mentioning that there is no physiotherapy center over here and i do exercise on the bed to the extent possible and i know the functions of my lower limbs has worsen then before.
Eagerly waiting for your response !!!!!!

Bibek --There are many ideas at this website; I hold ideas that are not shared by many others here -- I think that excess insulin is deeply involved in the MS cascade.
Therefore, my suggestions may be quite different from other people's.
First of all, I encourage you to follow a low-carb diet, which will limit those foods -- white bread, white flour, white potatoes, white sugar, or artificial sweeteners, etc. -- that cause your body to produce more insulin.
I do not think that the use of methylprednisolone is a good idea because it is a glucocorticosteroid and also causes insulin production.
In fact,I do not know of ANY medication currently used for MS that is TRULY effective; at the moment I think the best course of action is in diet and exercise. If you have no facility for exercise, do you have a friend or family member who could help you passively with massage at least?
Most of all, I hope you have a good physician whom you trust and with whom you can work. You have new friends here and we want to help you however we can.

There is the idea that maybe B3 can cause flushing which might help with the relapse in a high does, but this is purely based on the idea that the blood vessels are involved in an MS attack. I know B3 (Niacin) can be toxic to the liver at high doses so I am not sure what one should take to test the theory and whether it is safe. Maybe JL can comment

Q as to relapse
Yes Jimmilegs,u got it right it is me.Unfortunately the ccsvi option cannot be further evaluated ,as it is still not approved by neuros (over here the neuros are very conservative)and the supplement regiman (i think i need potassium ) can only be taken if i an right ,only after checking whether one's body requires it .jimmylegs wrote:bbk, have you looked into local options related to ccsvi?
and i think i recall that you had a supplement regimen in place, was that you?
Let me confess, I do not have much idea/knowledge,plz help me.My relapse is still not over even after six weeks.I have already taken three IVs of Methylprednisolone Sodium Sussinate six weeks back. Some body from this group suggested "The body might be producing more insuline, hance such condition".Need i check my insuline level ?
