New and uninsured

Post by SandyK »

Hi. I am waiting patiently for health insurance because I would love to get on Tysabri. I have had MS for 15 years and just stopped working. Because of my SS amount I am ineligible for state health insurance. No neurologist will see me. What do others do in this situation? I can't be the only MS person to not have insurance...can I?

Hi Sandy,
I receive Avonex through Biogen's assistance program called Avonex Access. They may also have one for Tysabri to help cover the costs.

I know I qualify for Tysabri to give me the drug for free but I need a neurologist to write me the prescription and they won't see me without insurance. It's a vicious cycle!

you know, with today's economy, being without insurance sucks. I have it right now, but they are threatening lay offs where my hubby works (who I have my insurance through). I think I'm about ready to steal away on a boat and go to Europe. Good medical.. and it's free!

Don't have to go that far. Just head north across the border. Its free as well, in a sense, but no issues that you folks have in the US
