I had the Hubbard scans and an abnormal iron content found. No numbers were given in the report but there was a scatter chart and I was above the average by about 45 units (visual guesstimate).
I have not had the treatment yet. I am waiting on a local IR's IRB approval.

Thanks a lot. As I said I have never had big respite from symptoms like fatigue, body pain. Does that mean I never had remission? Not necessarily. If your current symptoms are less powerful than they were with the initial presentation then you are in a remission. But it is possible to be continuall...

Remission is a partial or complete reduction in symptoms. For example, my second attack was optic neuritis. I lost the ability to see color and my vision was blurred substantially in my left eye. 3-4 months later, after IV steroid treatments, I regained my sight in the left eye. I now have headaches...

Re: Cost of surgery through Hubbard`s Foundation
Does anybody know what the costs will be for the testing and the surgery done throught the Hubbard Foundation? Since I am from Canada with no insurance in the U.S., I can only imagine what the price tag is going to be ??? Has anybody actually had any surgeries here yet? I know Devin was charged aro...

Nicole, Nice job. Thank you for posting that update. Congratulations on finding such a wonderful IR. I will be treated in the coming weeks and think I have found someone as compassionate as yours. I look forward to reading of your continued improvements. I hope his aggressive approach works better f...

But the tests I/we had done in 2010 at the False Creek Clinic in B.C. do not show anything about iron levels in the brain. We waited 2 months for the reports which are comprehensive and difficult for most people to even understand (flow charts) but worth the money. The $400.00 is now included in th...

I think Dr. Haacke is well qualified to review the scans... Here is some info on Dr. Haacke: E. Mark Haacke, PhD Director of MR Research Facility Dr. Haacke's research interests include: MR Angiography, Susceptibility Weighted Imaging (SWI) to study vascular disease, Stroke Imaging, Better Detection...

The tests done through the Hubbards include the iron levels and they have an arrangement with Dr. Haacke so they come back within 2-3 weeks...they are working on faster since they have trained in-house staff to eventually take over the reading of the scans. That is probably what Devin means by reduc...

Selkie, Do not get so discouraged. They are receiving a lot of email these days. Send them a separate email to confirm the PLM CareGiver request. The foundation's email is hubbardfoundation@gmail.com. If you are going to get scanned and/or treated they will prefer to monitor you through PLM. Cece is...

:) *super big smile* I am in the sunny land of SoCal. He mentioned he is considering treating the lower IJVs like the doctor from Kuwait (?-who was at the symposium) with different specialty balloons. He will check the azygos...but we did not fully go into specifics...I think he was super excited ab...

Hot Digittey dog!! Oh yeah, totally awesome dude!!! He is a researcher too, and seems to be interested in obtaining an IRB approval. I will work on convincing him of the merits of that, although I think he has already made a decision to do it. YAY. I will update all when I am treated and what his de...

Sure thing Trish. Keep in mind, the LP is usually used in the beginning, as a diagnostic tool....not as a follow up/progression monitoring tool. It is invasive to the spine. Also, my neuro told me it is not really totally necessary to get a MRI every year if I was not progressing...but we could do i...
