My post was a quick check to see who (apart from "Mladen") would respond to my post. This mostly settles it :)

It seems you have proven your point but there are a couple of different ways the situation might be viewed.

I have to agree with the spin you gave, but the bigger question is also what is the worth of those "response" ...
A new scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it

"Beggars can't be choosers" is the more common saying, but both are correct. Furthermore, would anyone say the word "chooser" outside of this saying?

Although he's on my "side" and may actually be ME, Malden's English struggles at times.

Now, if his English isn't and hadn't ever been a source of contention the "compliment" scenario might have been a consideration but as things are, sarcasm wins the ribbon.
