i need your help! time sensitive

Post by jimmylegs »

hi all :) i hope you can get me some info...

I am looking for screen shots or pics or scans of specific lab work you may have had done.

ideally your image will show the lab letterhead or similar, serum measure, units and range.

you can blank out your individual test result and address details. i really only care down to the city level. i just need it to be demonstrably a piece of paper issued by a real lab.

i would love to see a few examples for zinc, magnesium and vit d3 results. or anything else you care to send.

you can email me files via jimmylegs2013@hotmail.com

this is a sort of 24 hour thing if you can manage it. 48 tops.

i'll keep an eye on the inbox. thanks in advance to anyone who can send info :)

Jimmylegs,

I just had blood levels checked. But, sorry, no paperwork. I got my test results off MYCHART online. Sorry....... I could probably get the paper lab slip, but not till Monday.......too late for you :( But I will be posting the levels and asking for your "reading" and any help you could offer to me. Thanks......and......sorry......

heya chowder! - i think a screen shot from the online provider could work, if that is something you would consider sending?? as long as it's 'official' looking :)

I got it :) I may still be able to use it.

as for you, see if you can bump that mag level up to 2.6. the magnesium normal range is so. very. bad!
do you have any magnesium glycinate?

your b12 level could also stand to be a little higher. min 500 pg/mL has been proposed as a lower cutoff (goodman et al, at some point in time hehe)

Jimmylegs,

(I know this sounds dumb), but is that a vitamin pill or is that the powder form my chiropractor has mentioned??

The only thing my GP said was my potassium was low so he gave an RX. But I knew you were more informative so I made sure I was able to get the results myself (to give to you;) Gonna be rechecked in about 6 weeks.

Thanks

hey there :)

I am not sure what exactly your chiro might have available, but here is one option to consider - I have used this and it's good:
http://www.iherb.com/Kirkman-Labs-Magne ... =null&ic=2

low potassium can be difficult to correct when magnesium status is also low. working on the magnesium may resolve the potassium issue as well. what is the potassium prescription exactly, iima?

for b12 I would do the subingual methylcobalamin thing - here is one option (I have not personally tried this particular one):
http://www.iherb.com/Solgar-Sublingual- ... =null&ic=2

good idea getting your own copy of the results :) you should be able to make a pretty decent difference in your status by the time of your next tests.

Hi Jimmylegs

I'll order that Magnesium. And I currently have (just bad about using it regularly) Nature's Bounty sublingual vit b12 5000 mcg. My chiro mentioned a Mag Max (or something). It was in powder form. (He sold it there) I just started (and ending) seeing chiro again. Saw him a couple of years ago pre- cancer tx and he was great! He has since joined a different practice and is a little too money hungry. (Other chiro in practice sees 50 pts a day!) After about 6 visits with no benefit, I quit:( He wanted to see me twice a week like he did 2 years ago. (And I went for months, then) With a $35 copay each visit and not seeing ANY difference, I opted out. I told him why......cause I really like(d) this guy......till he said, "Stop getting your hair colored and put your money in your health!) Neither here nor there but that's my rant for the day. haha

Now, back to the blood work. I don't think I have the results of everything yet. (I guess some take more time???) Anyway, this is what I asked for (I got the list from on of your posts, btw):

B complex (all vit b's)
Vit e
Vit d3
Calcium
Ferritin
Magnesium
Selenium
Zinc
Copper
Essential polyunsaturated fatty acids
Chem panel (NHE rec. this)
Thyroid (I wanted)

So far, you have seen what I got. I have paperwork that says zinc, vit d 1,25,dihyroxy, copper, and ferritin have been ordered, too. (And she took PLENTY of vials of blood. hehe) Hopefully they will come soon. (But not soon enough to benefit you:(

I really don't know why ordering vitamin levels seems like such an ordeal for doctors. I asked GP this time and was adamant when initially only 2 vitamins to be checked were order. But, still didn't get everything I wanted:( I had asked neuro a couple of years ago and he said no, I didn't need all that. (No hating on my neuro! I love my neuro. He's just not into nutrition. Can't be perfect. haha)

Anyway, I'll let you know about the other results. The only other bloodwork I have is checking levels (CBC not vitamin) while on chemo. But it's very official looking. haha

Good luck with this 'project' per say!!

hey there :) thanks for the info!

sounds good re the magnesium order.
*if* the 5000 mcg sublingual b12 keeps you up at night, see if you can cut it in half, and take it in the afternoon/evening not in the morning.

re testing, that's a nice long list - tons of good info once you have all that in one place!

i hope that you can get a good list of work done. note that the list of tests you have requested is from a section on suspect nutrients. that list is slightly different than the list of serum targets. so if you have to prioritize, i would choose tests from the broader list, for which i have been able to read enough to date to come up with a target. hope that makes sense :)

and thank so much :D

Uh......no.......Jimmylegs. (re: making sense) I'm blonde. At least when I get my hair colored! hehe

Per a message from the doctor, Friday, that my husband JUST relayed, I don't think those other vitamin levels were checked due to non insurance payment. Ordered but not followed through with. Which irritates me because I told them I wanted it done even if insurance wouldn't pay for it! So, I guess I will call GP again tomorrow to see. I should at least get the zinc and vit d checked, shouldn't I??

Thanks!

ok no worries. for sure zinc and d3.

to clarify, if we cross reference the 'suspect' list against the 'target' list this is what you get:

suspects...........................................................targets
vitamin b complex (all of them, particularly b12)....vitamin B12: aim for at least 500 pg/mL or 370 pmol/L.
vitamin e.....................................................................pending.
vitamin d3.........................................................vitamin D3: aim for at least 100 nmol/L (40 ng/mL). preferably 125-150 nmol/L (56-60 ng/mL).
calcium.......................................................................pending http://www.thisisms.com/forum/regimens- ... tml#p57111
ferritin........................................................................most labs should have useful ranges printed right on the results
magnesium........................................................magnesium: aim for .95-1.1 mmol/L. (or 2.3-2.7 mg/dL). this is conservative.
selenium............................................................selenium: two reference ranges found.. 0.90 to 2.00 µmol/L; 1.02 to 1.91 µmol/L, OR 80 to 150 µg/L
zinc...................................................................zinc: aim for 18.2-18.4 umol/L. (~120 ug/dL)
copper...............................................................copper: aim for 17.3-18 umol/L (or 100-114 ug/dL)..
essential polyunsaturated fatty acids................................pending

so yes, d3 and zinc would be great

copper and selenium would be good too, if you can. but you can put d3 and zinc ahead of them in line.

all right gotta get back to the urgent task :) tick tock tick tock hehe
